THE "BLOCK" WHERE ADOPT THE BLOCK BEGAN
COZUMEL, MEXICO (FELIX GONZALEZ NEIGHBORHOOD)
PROJECT: BUILD A FUNCTIONAL STORE AND MEETING SHELTER
The Premier Foundation formed a relationship with the people of the Felix Gonzalez neighborhood during our visit to Cozumel to construct the playground at the Ciudad de Angeles Children’s Home. Although this is a newer neighborhood, the homes and corner store are built from rubble and leftovers. It was here that the vision for Adopt the Block was born. On subsequent visits, the Foundation donated much needed clothing, shoes and a variety of sports equipment for the children.
We have architectural renderings completed, and we’re currently planning with local representatives to build a functional store and meeting shelter for the community. The upgraded store will allow the owners to increase commerce in a safe environment while the shelter will allow locals to meet for worship and Bible study while doubling as an education center for vocational learning.
As we finalize the planning process, we will be raising much-needed funds to build and maintain this facility.
